I am the great grandaughter of Albert Henry Lathrop. His daughter, Abbie Maria Lathrop Schmidt was my grandmother. Albert was the son of Daniel and Elizabeth Lathrop. I just recently found the burial sites of my great grandfather and his parents in Vineland, New Jersey.

Would anyone have info on my family?

I am a descendent of Rev. John Lathrop and therefore have reviewed many of the web-genealogies of his family. I have been impressed by the many ordained ministers who have been noted. This has been of interst to me because I have been an ordained pastor for 45 years. Has anyone counted/listed the ministerial descendents of Rev. John?

I have noticed a significant amount of Lathrop clergy as well. I have made a page just so they can be identified and organized. Click on the Lathrop Religious Legacy page to the far right to share the legacy.

I found your website today well searching the web for information re Luther Lothrop who married Mary Leitita Lee in Winnipeg, Manitoba. My father Alvin Barker born July 11, 1920 was the grandson of Mary Leitita Lee and Luther Lothrop, and his mother was May Lothrop. My mother told me that when my father came back from WW II that some of his mother's American Lothrop relatives were at a welcome home party that was in Port Arthur, Ontario, now Thunder Bay. One of dad's sisters lives in Winnipeg, and she found finding information on Luther Lothrop impossible. If he was actually a Lathrop, that might explain it but the marriage record I found in the Manitoba archives shows Lothrop.

Stangely enough, the Barker family May Lothrop married into came to Canada as Salvation Army missionaries, and May's mother-in-law was widowed and remarried to a Wood, another Salvation Army mission family.

If you could put me in touch with "Rhmona Lothrop" I would appreciate it.

Thank you,

Dear Mr. Lathrop: I am a descendant of John Lothrop from Barnstable, MA. My great grandparents were Charles and Louella Lathrop, East Troy, PA. My grandmother on the Lathrop side was Fannie Adella Lathrop Hicks of Canton, PA. My mother was Mary Marjorie Hicks, also of Canton, PA. If you have any information on the family background of Charles Lathrop, could you please let me know at your convenience. Any thing you might have would be greatly appreciated. I am at a complete standstill on this. Thank you very much.

I am hoping someone can assist with 2 questions:
i/ Martha, granddaughter of Rev. John, had a son John Moss who married Elizabeth Hall. Did the latter have a daughter Ann who married a Thomas Merriam?

ii/ Similar question involving Sarah, granddaughter of Rev. John, who had a daughter, Sarah Rice Royce. Can someone confirm whether she had a daughter Ruth Hart, who married a William Merriam?

Thank you.

Does anyone have any information on a Mrs. Lathrop who lived in the 1950s with her daughter and son-in-law, Capt. James Watkins USN, and their 2 children at 1731 Dublin Drive, Silver Spring, Maryland (a suburb just north of Washington, D.C.)?

I remember hearing that there were artists in her family, but thought she might have been from New England.

I was the kid next door; she was like an extra grandmother to me. Any information or leads would be appreciated.

Thanks very much.

Hi,

I'm not directly related to the Lathrop family but Rev. John Howland Lathrop (1880-1967) was married to Lita Schlesinger which was my great-great-great grandparents Mighill and Sarah Smith's great grandaughter and the daughter of Adolph and Jennie Schlesinger.

You wrote that Rev. John Howland Lathrop and his wife Lita had 2 children who lived to adulthood. Do you know of the whereabouts of these 2 children and their descendants? I'm looking for other descendants of Mighill and Sarah Smith since there aren't very many of them that I know of.

Thanks,

Andrea G.

Hi, I'm researching the Lull family out of Hartland, Windsor, VT where Capt Timothy Lull was a fifer in the Revolution. I came across your AWESOME site because I have several ancestors named LUCIAN BONAPARTE LULL and am trying to figure out who the namesake Lucian Bonaparte was? My first Lucian was born 1827 in Windsor VT. Any chance you have a clue? Alas I haven't found a Lathrop line (yet) but won't be surprised if I do, given the common VT, NY and MASS locations. Also, some of my guys were born in Canada - seems they headed to Michigan for land. Michigan was sometimes a Canadian territory and sometimes a US territory, in case that's a clue that might help you. Thanks and good luck!

Lucian Bonaparte was the brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. Non French people were probably named in his honor because of his celebrity.

Regarding the name of Lucien Bonaparte (or Lucian Bonaparte), a common US name of the early-mid 1800s, I've learned that the original namesake was probably Charlos (Carlo) Lucien Bonaparte, nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte and son of Napoleon's brother Lucien Bonaparte. Carlo L.B. was in the US between 1822-1826 and was dubbed the 'Emperor of Nature' as he was a world-reknowned ornitholigist and naturalist. Thought I'd add in case anyone else is interested.

Hi, I *believe* that I am a descendant of Rev. John Lathrop, but my family is stuck trying to prove a marriage between my ancestor Rev. Simeon Marsh (of Plainfield, CT) and a Eunice Lathrop. This marriage would have occurred--probably in Connecticut--around the year 1755.

Simeon and Eunice had four sons: John Lathrop Marsh (moved to Canada after the Revolution and married a Sarah Estabrooks); Solomon Marsh (my ancestor); Ebenezer Marsh (yet another ancestor lol!); and Thomas Lathrop Marsh, who later moved to Tennessee and became--you guessed it!--a minister.

Widow Eunice Marsh and her 3 youngest sons moved first to Charlotte, NC, and then to present-day Union Co, NC.

I would love to find some kind of confirmation that my people do indeed descend from the Lathrop family! So far sadly all we have are family "stories", a tenuous link to the Marsh/Lathrop line of Canada, and the fact that the name Lathrop was a favorite "middle name" for Marsh men during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Any help very much appreciated!!!

Thanks--
Patti

I discovered your web site tonight while researching my family tree.

I was specifically looking for Henry Sadler Lathrop and his wife, Eva Culyer Decker. Great Aunt Eva had done some work on our family history and now I'm continuing that work. Your site is extremely helpful. Their children were Richard and Henry Lathrop. We are in need of help with the Decker side of the family if you might know of any good resources for that.
Thanks,
Bob Jones, Summerville, SC

Hi I was trying to find the history of my house and my grandmother always told me that her mother bought it from a little old lady named f. Lathrop who was a judges daughter. The house was built around 1870. Is it possible this house was the one that judge lathrop built? I would love more information as where to find his residence? It would be awesome to connect a housd that hasbeen in my family for 75 years to an historical figure. Cheers

I am a descendent of the Ewer family. Sarah Learned first married Thomas Ewer (son of Henry) and they came to Mass with two of their children - one being Thomas Ewer II. When Thomas Ewer died, Sarah married Thomas Lathrop and had children - one being Hannah Lathrop. Hannah married her half brother Thomas Ewer. Thus began my line from the Ewers, Lathrops, Learneds but Sarah (twice)

Greetings! I really appreciate ALL the work you've done here! Wow! Our family are descendants of Emma Jane Lathrop, but when I try and click on the link on your page I can't get through. I'm wondering if that's because you need more info, or if it's just a broken link. I'd really like to check my info against someone elses, so if you don't mind responding at some point, you can reach me at ccc@swissmail dot org (replace the word and spaces with a dot). The name is Mel. Thank you so much!!!

Hi, I am doing some research on my father's family. His grandfather, William Henry Green, was married to Emma Jane Lathrop born 1877. They married April 14, 1897. I am interested in getting more information on both of them. Would you be able to point me in the correct direction? Do you know where they lived?

Thank you!

-Michelle Green
